According to the Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson, Amir-ul-Azeem had been suffering from cancer for a long time. His death has been widely mourned by political leaders, party workers, and supporters across Pakistan.

Born in Lahore in 1958, Amir-ul-Azeem earned an MBA degree from Punjab University.
During his student years, he actively participated in student politics and was elected President of the Punjab University Students’ Union. He also served as Nazim-e-Ala of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba.
During the Zia-ul-Haq era, he led a movement demanding the restoration of student unions and was imprisoned for his activism.

He served as the party’s Central Information Secretary before being appointed Central Secretary General in 2019 by Siraj-ul-Haq. In 2024, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman reappointed him to the same position on the recommendation of the party’s Central Shura.
